Puttur, May 17: The demand of public of the taluk that was under the pipeline for two long decades seems to be realized soon. Central railway has given green signal to the underbridge construction which will connect Kabaka Puttur railway station to Uppinangady national highway.
Tender is called for this work which is estimated to cost Rs 9.56 crore. This road which passes through Adarsha train station has gate at APMC. Most of the time this gate is closed as trains continuously pass through this gate. That is why the demand for underbridge was made by public since 20 years.
On both sides of the railway gate the vehicles stand in queue to go to the other side. As most of the farmers have started business in APMC in recent days, the crowd has increased.
Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor said that the work will finish within four months and it will be done by expert contractor. APMC and state government will bear 50% of the cost along with union railway department. Social worker Lokesh Bannur says that this underpass will ease the life of locals as it will reduce the long waiting in queue on either side of the railway gate.
Many a times vehicles of Puttur fire service station use this road to reach accidents that occur on NH 75. However, due to the closure of the railway gate, they are unable to reach the accident spot in time. So the underpass will resolve that issue also.
