Mangaluru/Udupi, May 16: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada Dr Rajendra K V and Udupi DC M Kurma Rao on Monday May 16, warned of a heavy rainfall that has been forecast for the coastal districts during the next five days.
In a press release, the district disaster management authority has issued a red alert on May 18 while an orange alert has been sounded out on May 17 and 19 in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district.
Public and fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea or the river. Children have also been warned not to stand near electric wires or buildings or near the trees.
People living in low-lying areas have been told to shift to safer locations, a press release added.
