Kodagu, May 16: In a shocking revelation of photos on the social media, it has come to light that Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) distributed trishuls under oath in a school compound at Ponnampet of the district and provided airgun training on a deserted land.
The photos of distributing trishuls to workers at the valedictory function of Shaurya Prashikshana Varga that was held for one week at the school campus of Sai Shankara Education institute at Ponnampet have gone viral on the social media. The photos of airgun training during the one week camp also have gone viral on the social media.
It is confirmed that more than 120 workers of BD and VHP participated in the week-long camp. It is learnt that MLA K G Bopaiah, M P Appacchu Ranjan, MLC Suja Kushalappa and state level leader of Hindu organizations have taken part in the camp and gave message to the participants, it is learnt.
It is also said that leaders of Hindu organizations have explained in Bauddhik about the protecting self and Hindu religion.
Some organizations have vehemently condemned the act of VHP and BD. Speaking on the subject, Ameen Mohisin, member of Madikeri town municipality said, “This kind of trainings are given to create chaos in society.” He also said that a complaint will be given to SP asking the motive behind arms training and distribution by Hindu organizations.
Suresh Muthappa, district working president of VHP, said, “More or less after 20 years, we got opportunity to hold Hindu awareness camp at Kodagu. Trishul distribution is Hindu tradition. There is no need to give some other meaning to it. This is going on for many years. Air gun training is given for protecting self and Hindu religion and not against any one.”
It is learnt that the district intelligence department does not have any information about the week-long camp that was held at a school at Ponnampet. It is said that only after the photos went viral, officials are gathering information.
