Bengaluru, May 15: Health and Family Welfare department informed that this year from January, 1,352 cases of dengue are reported in Karnataka since January.
Bengaluru city tops the list with 302 cases, while Udupi and Mysuru occupy the second and third spot with 150 and 120 cases respectively. As many as 70 cases are reported in BBMP zone in the last month while 21 cases are detected in the past 12 days.
The Health department has asked all district administration to take the dengue fever seriously as monsoon is round the corner. Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has directed concerned officers to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
National Dengue day is celebrated on May 16. A doctor from a well-known private hospital in the city says that the cases of dengue were less last year due to Covid restrictions. But this year the numbers may shoot up due to unexpected rains.
