Bantwal, May 5: VHP divisional secretary Sharan Pumpwell visited the residence of 10th standard student who had allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Kaniyoor, Kanyana village and consoled the family members.
He has urged the police department to take up investigation of the incident and examine all angles including murder.
Atmika (14), daughter of Sanjiva, a resident of Panja in Sullia taluk had committed suicide at her residence.
She was staying with her family in the rented house of late Sulaiman Haji. She had ended her life when her family members were away for work. A case of repeated harassment against local resident Shahul Hameed was registered in this connection.
After speaking to members of Atmika’s family, Sharan Pumpwell told reporters the girl had been murdered due to love jihad. The mortal remains of the girl were found under mysterious circumstances. A case of murder should be registered against suspect Shahul Hameed and his family members, he urged.
'Alleged suicide of minor girl is premeditated murder'
“The alleged suicide of a minor girl at Kanyana is a premeditated murder. A high level probe must be conducted into it. The Vishwa Hindu Parishat will campaign till the family of the deceased girl gets justice. Dalit organizations should be the voice for it,” urged Sharan Pumpwell.
“Sahul Hameed of Kanyana Kaniyoor was pestering the 14-year-old girl to love him. He had performed black magic on her and brainwashed her. The girl’s mother alleges that Sahul Hameed was making the girl wear burkha and escorting her to his house with the help of his family members. This is a systematic love jihad case. One door of the house was open when the girl committed suicide and it is said that there was an impression of a finger on her neck. It is said that the man was in contact with several people and used to harass the girl.”
“The Vittal police have registered a case of suicide and are investigating. They have not arrested the suspect or conducted investigations at his house even after 24 hours of the incident. We will protest until the suspect and his family are arrested and justice is delivered,” he said.
VHP district vice president Krishnappa Kalladka, Vitla taluk president Padmanabha Katte, Kanayana president Lokesh and Bajrang Dal Kanyana convener Chandrahasa were present.
