Puttur: Scooterist dies in scooter-tipper collision on highway, pillion rider critical

Puttur, May 5: A scooterist came under the wheels of a tipper lorry on the Mani-Mysuru national highway and died on the spot on Wednesday May 4 afternoon. The accident occurred on the bypass road here.

The deceased is identified as Sinan (18), a resident of Ariyadka village and son of Adaam.

Sinan was riding the vehicle and Hassenar's son Mohammed Asir was riding pillion to him when the accident occurred. Asir was seriously injured in the accident and was admitted to a hospital while rider Sinan died on the spot. Sinan and Mohammed Asir were related to each other.

The footage of the accident has been captured on a nearby CC camera which showed Sinan being run over by the tipper lorry.

The accident occurred when the bike rider Sinan tried to overtake another bike while the tipper lorry was coming in the opposite direction resulting in the collision. While Mohammed Asir suffered a serious head injury as the tipper lorry dragged both the rider and the pillion along for some distance.

A case has been registered in Puttur traffic police station.

    O God again one more life is gone forever.Looks like deceased one is younger ?Simply bikes ,overtaking at a younger age .More lives are lost with road accident.We simply cry here.People dont listen and loose life .Only can pray for their souls.Heartfelt sympathy to the parents ,family.

    For all those children / boys on high way with scooter and motor bike- I squarely blame the parents . These irresponsible parents have no elk about what they are trying to make about their children’s future. There are countless boys on road who don’t follow traffic rules or law of the land . They are reckless but , ofcourse it’s their age which makes them like that - but where is brains of these wayward kid’s parents ? If we scan the whole nation’s new paper we see only Coastal Karnataka and Kerala which has highest number of bike accident and fatality in comparison to our population.

    Young drivers/riders do not have sufficient road sense. They need to be put through a special training before a license is granted to them. Otherwise many more young lives will be lost. The trouble is even greater for the survivors. Some of these cannot lead a normal life, even if they receive the best treatment in the world.

    RIP to the departed soul... Wishing a speedy recovery to the survivor... We must always judge the situation during dangerous maneuvers like overtaking... This is most necessary when oncoming vehicle is a loaded truck... Bigger vehicles have less ability to be controlled in the last moment...

    Most of the bike riders dies their age is under 30... RIP. i always suggest parents do not buy two wheeler for their children.

    People do not wear helmets & 3 to 4 people ride in a two wheeler. I have recently been to this area and was shocked at such careless attitude of riders. In addition rash & negligent driving ,overtaking etc Hope people change their attitude from now on & start following the safety protocals. Helmets are meant for the safety of inidividuals not govt
