Bengaluru, May 4: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday, May 4 promised to develop the State’s tourism spots and completely change the tourism map of Karnataka.

Speaking at a function to launch a programme on Seven Wonders of Karnataka on Wednesday, he said the State is endowed with plenty of tourism spots and is blessed with ten agro zones besides 330 kms of verdant seat coast as well as the bio-reserve of Western Ghats.

Karnataka is blessed with rivers and has historical as well cultural hotspots, hills and mountain ranges in addition historical and religious attractions for all kind of tourists.

The Chief Minister said the State Government was committed to develop the concept of taluk circuits and identify tourism spots and attractions in each taluk.

The State has vast potential for tourism and said Bidar, Kalaburgi, Badami and Lakkundi can attract tourists. The government has already established Hampi and Mysuru travel circuits, he said.

Bommai said the government has already earmarked Rs 100 crore for the development of a ropeway at Nandi hills besides starting ropeway project at the world famous Jog Falls. Yana, Mullayyanagiri, Anjanadri hills have the potential for ropeways.

He said Nandi hills, Jog falls will be developed and the coastal region will be developed as per the Coastal Regulatory Zone norms.

The Chief Minister later held review meetings on the implementation of budgetary programmes in the Medical Education, Public Works, Water Resources and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Departments.

Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar and ministers of the departments concerned along with senior officials attended the departmental review meetings.
