Belagavi, Apr 30: The National Education Policy is very crucial and important to provide quality education and thereby help in transforming society as well as strive for the all-round development of the country, said Higher Education Dr CN Ashwath Narayan on Saturday.
Addressing a national seminar on the implementation of National Education Policy 2020 at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium of Visvesvaraya Technical University in Belagavi, he said quality education was necessary to produce well-educated and technically proficient students.
Dr Narayan said the NEP 2020 was the first-of-its-kind initiative after 34 years and claimed that previous policies did not contribute to the comprehensive development and reforms in the field of education at all levels.
The students need good and quality education and at the same time be proficient in all aspects. The education should enable students to acquire skills and develop them for their own benefit and also for the progress of the country, the minister said.
Dr Narayan said the NEP 2020 addresses several drawbacks in the country’s education system and also help them to improve their learning as well gain new skills. The NEP also helps in the comprehensive development of the individual, he added.
The minister also released a handbook and new books on the occasion.
VTU Vice Chancellor Prof Karisiddappa, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, National President of Indian Education Council and Prof Sachidananda Joshi and Dr Satish Jigajinni were among the other dignitaries on the dias.
