Bengaluru, Apr 26: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who will be touring in coastal Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, April 27, will be participating from the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat office, in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video conference with the chief ministers to review the Covid situation in the country following sudden spike in cases and the fears over the fourth wave.
All arrangements are being made in the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat office in view of the Chief Minister’s arrival in Mangaluru and the participation in the Prime Minister’s video conference with the chief ministers of all states, according to the Chief Minister’s office.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, who visited Vijayapura district on Tuesday, April 26 to take part in official programmes, told media representatives at the Kokaganur helipad that there was a “slight spurt” in the Covid cases but felt there was no need to panic.
“What is important is that all should follow the Covid appropriate behaviour, including compulsory wearing of masks in public places and also indoors, especially in crowded places, and maintain social distancing norms. Vaccination is the only solution,’’ he said.
Stringent measures to check international passengers at airports and especially in the border states of Kerala and Maharashtra was necessary, the Chief Minister said.
Bommai said the state government will brief the prime Minister on the Covid situation in Karnataka at Wednesday’s meeting through video conferencing.
