Bengaluru, Apr 21: Asserting that all the Congress leaders did their best to ensure peace and maintain law and order situation in Hubballi, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar on Thursday, April 21 attacked the ruling party and the government for levelling false charges against Congress while it was BJP which was ‘’mainly responsible for instigating the violence.’’
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, he demanded that the role of BJP leaders in the violent incidents in Hubballi must be impartially probed.
Shivakumar claimed that the police had appealed to the Congress leaders to help control the situation when some anti-social elements tried to create disturbances and the party responded. The District Congress chief, Althaf suffered injuries in stone pelting and got his hand fractured.
“Did Revenue Minister R Ashok and former chief minister B S Yediyurappa make any attempt to restore normalcy in the city. Instead, they are now blaming the Congress and levelling baseless allegations,’’ he said and warned that such attempts will not work.
The KPCC chief maintained that Congress party has nothing to do with the Hubballi violence and has tried its best to help in controlling the situation.
The government and the ruling party are accusing the opposition parties to divert public attention from the negative publicity and dent in its image over the 40% commission scandal, Shivakumar said.
