Singer Rupali Jagga: Having an independent music career helps to get into Bollywood

Mumbai, Apr 20 (IANS): Singer Rupali Jagga, who is making her debut in Bollywood as a playback singer with the song 'Tere Bin Jeena Kya', says finding space becomes easier for a new singer, when they have an independent career as an artist.

Asked about how challenging it is for a new singer to crack it in Bollywood and Rupali told IANS: "I would say I am more focused on making my career in music as an independent artist. Earlier also my single 'Tere Piche' was released and received a certain amount of visibility. I think instead of running after composers for Bollywood songs we should have our independent collaborative work and put it out on social media. That is rather an effective way to find work, because otherwise, Bollywood is huge and tough for newcomers."

The singer was one of the finalists on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. She was also the winner of the first edition of the singing reality show Indian Pro Music League.

The new song 'Tere Bin Jeena Kya' is composed by veteran MM Kreem and written by Manoj Muntashir.

While the budding singer has already worked with some prominent music directors like Himesh Reshammiya, and Salim-Sulemane she expresses her excitement about watching a song on a 70mm screen.

"I think for a singer, a song is a song and these days, every song has a video too. But watching a song, picturised on actors and shown on 70mm screen is a different high. In a way, I do not differentiate songs between film and non-film. But the only thing that makes a Bollywood song special is watching it on big screen. I will take my parents and family to watch the screening of it, I am excited!" shared the young singer.

The song, 'Tere Piche' is a duet song, and Rupali co-sings it with Vishal Mishra.

The film 'Operation Romeo' that is addressing moral policing in our society, produced by Neeraj Pandey, directed by Sushant Shah, starring Sharad Kelkar, Bhumika Chawla, Sidhant Gupta and Vedika Pinto is releasing on April 22 in theatres.
