Bengaluru, Apr 15: State BJP has already begun its work for the 2023 assembly elections. Along with the performance of the government, assessment of MLAs is also being done in order to identify candidates for the next elections.
BJP is chanting ‘Target 150' mantra in order to get absolute majority in the next assembly elections. It has 119 seats at present. As Amit Shah has already instructed to draw strategy the state BJP leaders are on the job as per party sources.
The BJP MLAs are assessed on the implementation of various central and state government schemes in their respective constituencies in addition to the organization of the party and their rapport with leaders of various communities.
It is also learnt that information is gathered through lower booth level workers to know the interaction respective MLA has with party workers.
The leaders of the party are also asking MLAs for self-assessment. Three teams are on the tour of state to get the ground level scenario of implementation of schemes. They are also scrutinizing the performance of non-BJP MLAs in constituencies where their representation is not there.
It is said that if the booth level workers and local leaders do not give a good impression of the current BJP MLA, party ticket will not be given to such candidates. In the recently held UP elections, BJP had not given tickets to more than 80 sitting MLAs for the same reason. It is said that the party is going to follow the same model in Karnataka too.
