Bengaluru, Apr 12: Though the BJP high command recently asked chief minister Bommai to concentrate on good governance and development of infrastructure, it seems the advice has fallen on deaf ears.
The religious divide systematically spreading in the state, which started from Hijab and propagated through Halal cut meat, banning of Muslim traders in Hindu temple fairs, banning of Muslim drivers on Hindu pilgrimages, has now entered the next phase. Rumous are rife that the roads and circles in the city that bear Muslim names will be renamed the Yogi way in Uttar Pradesh.
It is learnt that BJP MLAs and other local body representatives are planning this change. Internal information is already conveyed on the subject to the BBMP officials. Official announcements are likely to be made soon. After a host of campaigns, the Hindutva bodies had started exerting pressure on the government to change the names,
It is said that Tipu Sultan Palace Road at Mekhri Circle, Inayutullah Mekri Road, Tipu Circle on Anjanapura main road, Mohammed Saabpaalya of Vidyaranyapura, Jamia Masjid Road, Mubarak Road, Bilal Nagar of Shantinagar, Sultanpalya of R T Nagar, Yarab Nagara of Banashankari, Bismillah Nagar of Gurappana Palya, Ilyas Nagar and Tipu Nagar on Mysuru Road will be renamed.
