Bengaluru, Apr 11: In an aggressive reaction to the Congress party’s protests against price rise, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the opposition party has no moral right to speak or agitate against price rise as it was responsible for highest price rise and inflation when it was in power.
Speaking to media persons near his residence in Bengaluru on Monday, he said a panel headed by Chief Justice was looking into the protests by PFI students and the government will take action only after receiving the report.
To a question on whether BJP supported independent Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambarish would be formally joining the BJP, he said: “It is for her to decide.’’
However, Bommai clarified that no special meaning should be attached to her visit to meet him as she had come to hand over an invitation for her sister’s daughter’s wedding. “Naturally, when an MP meets me, matters pertaining to the constituency come up for discussion. Nothing else was discussed,’’ he said.
Bommai later participated in the Chitraduga Dharma Sansad organised at the Bangalore Palace Grounds as part of the birthday of Chitradurga Mutt Seer Sri Shivamurtyhy Murugha Sharana, in which Siddaganga Mutt Seer Sri Siddalingaswamy of Tumkuru also participated.
