Udupi, Apr 5: Retired police personnel Sandeep has urged the authorities concerned to set straight the salary and emoluments difference that is prevailing in the service and post retirement in the department.
Speaking at the press club, Sandeep said, “The personnel who are newly recruited get more salary. This has caused injustice to others in service and also retired police staff. This should be corrected immediately."
“According to Auradkar report referring to the KCSR Rule 43, if salary difference and other health lacunae are set right, nearly 1.5 lac in service and retired police families will get justice. For the past four to five years, lacs of rupees are being thrust on the police personnel's pays in the name of non-medical charges under police Arogya Bhagya scheme". he added.
He further said that for retired police personnel the claim is only upto Rs 1 lac and for surgery the maximum claim of Rs two lac is given through Arogya Bhagya scheme.
“Though orderly system is prohibited, it is still not implemented. Hundreds of trained police personnel are used for cooking and other works at the houses of top police officials. Instead of this, followers have to be recruited," he suggested.
“In the past, five years 250 police personnel have committed suicide. The root cause for this is financial hardship, mental pressure, salary, health, shortage of staff and the orderly system. If orderly is completely eradicated, the number of suicides by police personnel will reduce. We have sent appeals to the home and chief minister in this regard.”
Sandeep also said that he will start an appeal campaign for reforms in salary and redressal of other issues of police personnel.
