Mumbai, Feb 1:
“Kannada Bhavan education institutions are founded in the metro by veteran Kannadigas who hail from diverse cultures, religions, and regions across Karnataka.  Their sacrifices and hard work are indeed great.  Parsi community leader Boman Behram and Dr N D Kanchan were an inspiration to them with Behram serving as founder president of Kannada Bhavan till his death.  Kannada Bhavan education institutions have always supported its alumni association since 1964,” said Kannada Bhavan School founder principal Ram Narayan Ail.

He was speaking at the felicitation programme organized by the alumni association at Karnataka Sangh auditorium recently.

The metro’s Bunts justice committee president M D Shetty presided over the programme and felicitated Ram Mohan Ail by draping a shawl and presenting a citation letter, memento, and a tray of fruits and flowers.

In his presidential address, M D Shetty spoke of why he migrated to the metro and the hardships that were faced by him when earning a living and pursuing study at the night high school run by Kannada Bhavan.

Kannada Bhavan Education Society president A B Shetty, Bharat Co-operative Bank former chairman and Kannada Bhavan Education Society vice-president Dayanand B Amin, and Classic Hotel proprietor Suresh Kanchan, were the guests of honour on the occasion.

    Rose Madam,
Thanks for your compliments. It is true that off late due to switching over to English Medium, Kannada is declining in Mumbai. Even in this situation there is one Kannada Day High School in Fort Mumbai, which is conducting only Kannada Medium Day School, when others have eitehr started English Medium side by or closed Kannada Divisions. We need your blessings.

My hearty Congratulations to the Association and the team who conducted the programme. It is nice to see the Kannadigas, who have prospered due to their sincere & hard work in Mumbai, which is a city of opportunities/studies.

Since migrants to the city of Mumbai have switched over to English medium schools, it appears, Kannada has lost its weightage.

Thanks to Daijiworld for the good coverage.
