Kundapur, Apr 3: In a tragic incident that occurred in the morning of Sunday, April 3 at Gangolli, a man was burnt alive after the house in which he was sleeping caught fire suddenly.
Ganesh Kharvi (45), a resident of Doddahithlu of Gangolli village is the unfortunate victim of this mishap. He was working in a fishing boat. It is said that he had been to the boat at Gangolli port early Sunday and was sleeping after returning home. At around 8.30 AM, fire erupted suddenly in the house and Ganesh was burnt alive as he was sleeping. The exact cause of the fire is not yet ascertained.
Deceased Ganesh was building a new house. So he was living with his wife Yashoda in a nearby thatched house. The incident occured when his wife Yashoda had gone out to work in the morning.
The neighbours who noticed thick smoke emanating from the house doused the fire unaware of the fact that Ganesh Kharvi was sleeping inside. Hence they could not rescue him, it is said.
Byndoor circle inspector Santhosh Kaikini, Vandse Hobali revenue inspector Raghavendra Devadiga and Gangolli police station ASI Nanja Naik, visited the spot and did the inspection.
Gangolli gram panchayat president Srinivasa Kharvi, former member of taluk panchayat Surendra Kharvi visited the family and consoled its members.
Gangolli police have registered a case and are investigating further.
