Joyful Get-together Marks Third Anniversary of Mogaveers UAE

Sharjah, Jan 22: Mogaveers UAE celebrated their third anniversary with a sports meet and an entertainment programme on January 21 at Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club.
Around 300 Mogaveers together with their families and well wishers gathered at the beautiful lush green lawns ground in a perfect day of cool and breeze weather. The drizzling rain with chilled weather added to the joyful atmosphere and kept up their spirit throughout.
The sports meet starts off at 10 am with a prayer followed by a warm welcome by Chandrashekhar followed by lighting of the torch by president Lokesh V Puthran. The torch was relayed all through the corners of the ground representing seven parts of the Emirates - Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
Mohit and Vinod compered the event with elan in Kannada, Tulu and English.
The following sports events were held:
25 meter race for children below 5 years.
50 meter race for children aged 5 to 8 years.
Hopping race for children aged 5 to 8 years.
100 meter race for children aged 9 to 14 years.
100 meter race for adults below 40 years.
100 meter race for adults above 40 years.
4x100 meter relay for men.
Straw and ball race for children below 5 years.
Hopping race for boys aged 9 to 14 years.
Balancing book race for boys aged 9 to 14 years .
Balancing book race for all ladies
Sack race for men.
Shot put for adults.
Reverse ball throws to bucket for couples.
The prize distribution ceremony was held after each event wherein the top three winners were awarded medals.
Additionally there were lots of other prizes including a raffle draw.
A special entertainment programme began at 4.30 pm with a good number of dances and live songs which regaled the crowds despite the rain. A tradition dance performance by ‘Vande Maatharam’ group playing ‘suggi maadona’ entertained the gathering. The most-awaited dance was was the final ‘Pilivesha,’ which recreated the charm of Mangalorean festivities.
Sports coordinator Yaadav Kotian thanked everyone with a memento. He also thanked all the community members for participating in large numbers with great zeal and enthusiasm and in making the event a memorable one.
All the participants, members and guests were served refreshments. In the afternoon a delicious Mangalorean style of delicious lunch was served.
