Panaji, Jan 21: After facing several criticism for badly handling home portfolio, the state home minister Ravi naik finally has got lashing from his own party colleague.
The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in Goa on Thursday resolved that state Home ministry be given to the chief minister Digambar Kamat instead of Ravi Naik who is currently under fire for poor performance.
CLP sources stated the meeting today at chief minister’s official residence turned stormy over the drug nexus issue. The members are critical of Ravi Naik, the way he has failed to handle the ministry. After the deliberations, it was resolved that chief minister should take over the Home Ministry from Naik.
Goa Police are faced with the accusation of having nexus with Israeli drug lords. Two sting operations had exposed senior policemen hobnobbing with the drug cartels in the state.
The Congress legislators today said that Naik has failed to control the situation with several scams tumbling out of police cupboard. The opposition has demanded inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the entire drug nexus.
Sources stated that chief minister is reluctant to take over the portfolio at this juncture. “Whoever takes over the portfolio will have to face the opposition on the floor of the house,” a senior congress leader stated.
Goa legislative assembly’s winter session is beginning from January 31 in the state.
Sources stated that Naik will be asked to step down after the session.
