Bangalore, Jan 18: Was it a mere coincidence or is there something cooking?
Well, this question has arisen due to the sudden meeting of the beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dr G Parameshwara in Delhi on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister, who is facing a serious political crisis with Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj publicly confirming that he is seriously considering the petitions from two city-based lawyers for prosecuting Yeddyurappa, had suddenly rushed to Delhi in the morning after a hurriedly convened cabinet meeting.
Yeddyurappa, who has already met BJP national president Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai on Sunday before the latter’s fortnight-long China tour for discussions on the developing political situation, had flown to Delhi along with his trusted cabinet colleagues – Dr V S Acharya, S Suresh Kumar and Basavaraj Bommai.
The Chief Minister, who returned to Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi after meeting BJP opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha and the designated in-charge for the state party affairs, met Dr Parameshwara at the Karnataka Bhavan annexe building.
Incidentally, Dr Parameshwara had gone to Delhi for holding discussions with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other central party leaders.
The Chief Minister is expected to return from Delhi late tonight. He will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Information Commissioners of the State at the Banquet Hall in Raj Bhavan at 10 am on Wednesday. The Chief Minister will be inaugurating the Republic Day flower show at Lalbagh in the evening and later have a meeting of the National Rural Health Mission at Vidhana Soudha.
Surprisingly, the State Cabinet, which had a meeting this morning, will be having another meeting at 11 am. Given the fact that the Chief Minister is scheduled to have pre-budget meeting at 11.30 am, the agenda for the brief cabinet meeting on the second consecutive day is intriguing.
