Bangaloreans Groove to Fund-raiser Musical Nite by Melwin Peris

Bangalore, Jan 18: Bangaloreans had a taste of some melodious Konkani music with Melwin Peris Musical Nite hosted by Bangalore Konkani Catholic Sangh, Koramangala (BKCS) St John’s Auditorium, Koramangala, here on Sunday January 16.
The event was held in order to raise funds for St John’s Medical College & Hospital’s prestigious project for children suffering from Thalassemia.
Alwyn Mendonca, president of BKCS welcomed the gathering. The grand Musical Nite began with a welcome song and dance by the children of BKCS family followed by felicitation by the Association office-bearers to the dignitaries.
Dr Lawrence D'Souza, the director of St John's Hospital (St John's National Academy of Health Sciences) Bangalore, Glen Mascarehnas the associate director of finance, St John's Medical College & Hospital, Valerian Fernandes, chairman of FKCA, Justice B V Pinto, high court judge and former president of BKCS, Fr Faulstine Lobo, spiritual director for BKCS, Dr Krishna Phadke, HOD of Paediatrics, St John's Hospital, Yodelling King Melwin Peris, Leslie Fernandes, proprietor of Dock & Dell Shipping Corporation, Frank Coelho, assistant governor of Dist 3190 Rotary International were the guests.
Dr Fulton D'Souza explained in detail about Thalassemia.The merit students who scored the highest percentage in their respective exams were awarded on the occasion. The musicians were also felicitated by the Association.
Chief guest Fr Dr Lawrence D'Souza in his address thanked BKCS for lending helping hands to the poor children under the Thalassemia project and he also appreciated the hard work of BKCS which has many Mangalorean Konkani Catholics who reside in and around Koramangala.
The main event of the evening started with the melodious song 'Dabazo' by Melwin Peris. Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira directed the music. The entire programme was meticulously planned and executed with a well-balanced choice of songs rendered by most of the singers associated with Melwin throughout his career. All the numbers performed were instant hits with the crowd.
Melwin Peris was accompanied by Rony Crasta, Joseph M Pinto, Anita Samson, Amabel Moras and Edith who captivated the audience with their performance.
Jerry - Duje (Joseph M Pinto) duo kept the audience on their toes with their rib-tickling innovative comedy act. Naach Sobhann, a professional dance troupe from Mangalore also performed in sync with the songs.
Lionel D'Souza compered the event.
The Musical Nite concluded with a vote of thanks by Charles Menezes, general secretary BKCS. After this, there was a get-together at the food court adjacent to the auditorium. There were some spot games followed by Baila. Everybody enthusiastically participated and enjoyed the night.
