Mumbai, Mar 12: Police commissioner of city Sanjay Pandey has started crack down on two wheeler riders who involve in racing on the roads. Earlier, he had cracked down on wrong side driving in the city.
Between March 10 and 11, 222 cases were booked against violators during whole night. In addition, more than 2000 riders were slapped with traffic violation fines.
Out of the 222 offenders racing on the roads, maximum were caught at Dahisar division with 19 violations, while Nagpada registered 17 offences. Police of 50 traffic outstations were on the streets during the operation that ran whole night.
This special drive was carried out in order to curb racing on the roads of city especially in the nights according to the information provided by a senior officer.
On Sunday, commissioner Pandey made sensation during live session on Facebook where he mentioned the racing between youngsters at BKC and JJ flyover.
In a recent tweet, Sanjay Pandey said that he will ensure that no bikers will race on city roads and pose danger to other vehicles or pedestrians.
