Mangaluru, Feb 15: Local Congress leaders together with members of the Suratkal unit of Youth Congress staged a protest on Monday February 14 in front of Kavoor police station condemning the demolition of Panjimogaru prayer centre run by St Antony Church of Kulur.
The protestors pointed out that though it has been more than a week since the prayer centre's demolition, no arrest had been made yet.
The protesters also demanded to lodge FIR against the culprits.
DCP (law and order) Hariram Shankar visited the spot and assured to take action in the matter at the earliest.
Congress leaders Lawrence D'Souza, former MLA Mohiudeen Bava, Stany Alvares and others were present.
It is alleged that on February 5, Shri Satya Korddabbu Seva Samithi, violating the stay order from the court, entered the compound of the prayer center and demolished the building, compound wall, and trees. A complaint was filed by St Anthony Holy Cross Building committee president Antony Prakash Lobo, Cyprian D'Souza, Francis Pinto, and Valerian Lobo against Shri Satya Korddabbu Seva Samithi in Kavoor police station in this regard.
