Mumbai, Feb 4: Nawab Malik, leader of NCP and cabinet minister of state is asked to file an affidavit by the high court in reply to the contempt plea of Dhyandev Wankhede, father of Sameer Wankhede, former zonal director of NCB.
In the petition filed by Dhyandev it is alleged that Malik is continuing to defame his family in spite of the undertaking taken by the court in December.
On December 10, 2021 Malik had given assurance in court that he will not make any derogatory comments against the family of Sameer Wankhede. The court had accepted his apology also.
Dhyandev in his plea said that Malik made statement that are directed against his son based on the caste and religion and questioning his personal integrity. So he asked the court to hold Malik guilty of contempt of court.
Lawyer for Malik said that he will file an affidavit soon and the statements that were made by his client are well within the relaxations given by the court.
Justice Kathawalla verbally said to the counsel of Malik that the court will withdraw the relaxation given if the minister continues his barrage against the family of Wankhede. The court strictly asked the counsel of Malik to file an affidavit by Saturday.
