Mangaluru, Feb 3: The police, acting on reliable information, found 160 kg of beef being transported from Kasargod to Ullal illegally. The police came to know that a cow was bought from Mohammed from Bandyodu in Kasargod taluk. It was slaughtered there itself and the beef was being brought to Ullal for being sold though the beef stalls of U C Ibrahim Kody in his beef stalls at Kody and Mukkacheri.
The police also found beef, three skulls and pelts of the cows in the said Maruti Eeco car. Four persons accused of the crime have been taken into custody. They are Hussain (24) residing near Khateeja Manzil mosque, Chembugudde Permannur Mangaluru, Muhammed Mujambil (25) from Rizwan Manzil, Kody Ullal Mangaluru, Muhammed Ameen (21), residing at Fatima Manzil Kody Ullal Mangaluru, and Sohaib Akhter (22), residing at Al Adi House, Kody Ullal Mangaluru.
The value of the items seized from the accused has been put at Rs 3,10,000. A case has been registered in Ullal police station and investigation has been taken up.
Deputy commissioner of police (law and order) Hariram Shankar and deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic) Dinesh Kumar B P, guided the operation and under the leadership of city crime intelligence department police inspector Mahesh Prasad. Police sub-inspector Rajendra, assistant sub-inspector Mohan and other staff participated.
