Udupi, Jan 31: MLA and president of College Development Authority Raghupati Bhat has categorically denied the girls protesting for Hijab, entry to the Government Women's PU College here.
He annnounced the same after chairing a meeting at the college on Monday, January 31 in which four of the five girl students demanding Hijab in classes participated.
MLA Bhat said, “It is not possible to give permission to attend classes in the college wearing Hijab. As per the decision of the government and college committee, only uniforms are allowed. All the points are clarified to the parents as well as the girl students. Attending classes with Hijab is not allowed. The parents of the girls said that they will decide after speaking to the male members of their family."
“From Tuesday, February 1, there is no opportunity to create any chaos or confusion on the college campus. Media or any organisation will not be given entry. Examinations will begin in the next two months. We have been receiving complaints from the parents of other students in this matter. If you want to appeal further, you may do so with the DC. Only those who follow discipline can enter the college campus,” Bhat asserted.
