Mangaluru/Udupi,Jan 27: Dakshina Kannada on, January 27 reported 678 new coronavirus cases. The case positivity rate for the district stands at 8.04%.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 26,87,329 samples have been tested so far, out of which 25,56,717 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,30,612 out of which 5,244 are currently active.

As many as 755 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 123633.

The death in the district on Thursday is 4. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,735.

The district administration has collected Rs 1,14,03,980 in fines for 94,266 mask violations.

Udupi

A total of 948 new cases were reported on Thursday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 6,705. A total of 901 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Udupi taluk reported 460 cases, Kundapura 363 and 119 cases in Karkala. Six cases were from out of the district. The death in the district on Thursday is two.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
