Kolar, Jan 23: Deputy Commissioner Umesh Kumar has ordered an inquiry against a school for allegedly allowing Muslim students to offer Namaz in a classroom.

It is learnt that the DC has sought explanation from the DDPI in this regard. Leaders of various right wing Hindu organizations had held a protest in front of Sri Balechangappa Government Kannada Higher Primary School and urged action against the headmistress who provided a classroom for Muslim students to offer Namaz on Fridays. The protestors had also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the tahsildar through DySP Giri.

The incident has gone viral on social media. It is said that the headmistress had allowed the Muslim students to offer Namaz in order to get more students to join the school. She clarified that there was no ulterior motive behind her decision except the intention of bringing in more Muslim students to the school. It is also said that the rightwing Hindu organizations withdrew their protest after the explanation from the headmistress.

    HI COMMON, WHY THESE GUYS ARE CREATING PROBLEMS FOR THE STUDENTS PRAYER IN THE SCHOOL. IS SOME ON WILL DIE DUE TO THIS OR WHAT. PEOPLE WHO ARE COMMENTING TO THIS HAS NO SENSE AND ALSO THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER HIMSELF HAS TO EXPLAIN TO THE PROBLEM CREATORS ABOUT THIS OBLIGATORY PRAYERS. FIRST OF ALL TRY TO LEARN ABOUT THE FRIDAY PRAYER OBLIGATION, THIS FRIDAY PRAYER IS A OBLIGATORY PRAYER AND MUSLIMS DO NOT HAVE ANY EXCUSE FOR MISSING THIS PRAYER. WHY ENQUIRY AND WHY TO DISTURB THE DDPI DEPARTMENT. THIS PRAYER MAY HAPPEN ONLY ONCE IN A WEEK THAT IS IN FRIDAYS. IT MAY TAKES FIVE MINUTES. IT IS VERY STRANGE THAT AN IAS OFFICER COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THIS, THE SITUATION CAN BE HIGHLIGHTED OR CAN BE SORTED OUT WITH THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHER WILL GIVE THE EXPLANATION AND CLOSE THE ISSUES

    In my school days on every saturday there used to be Bhajan for an hour, And this practice may be still going on. Annually sharada pooja and Ayudha pooja etc. These are not representing any relegion? When we do it 's fine and when others do, its the problem? Hypocrisy ka bhi seema hota hai... In recent years in one of the govt school, opening of newly built class held with harmony. Hindus did homa, and muslim clerics did some prayer and no one had any issues.

    school is STRICTLY for studies.. any other activities SHOULD be private .. no one'll object NAMAZ or POOJA performed at appropriate place.leave the schools alone

    All law biding tax paying citizens have right to practice thier religion as per thier holy book and govt has the duty and responsibility to protect their rights. Is Hindutva a registered religion in india and is there a mention in thier holy book to pray during the week at prescribed timings??????…….For Muslims it’s mentioned to pray at certain time of the day during the weak but observing the law of the land with authorities consent. So what’s so illegal and threatening here to the society????????

    Now students want Namaz, burqa and Saffron shawls. Our times we did not have these issues. We wanted education and nowadays students want everything other than education. All because of our politicial parties who are misguiding people and fools are following these crooked political parties.

    In our times too we used to offer namaz, Hindus used to offer sharada puja once in a year and Christian students used to offer mass prayer once in a month Saturday that time there was no dirty politics. Saffron shawls were worn by brahmin bhattas. . Saffron color used to devide Indians heart.

    In 1973, when I was studying in Kantavara Govt Aided Higher Primary School Kantavara, Shriyuta Srinivas Rao was headmaster. Weekly once there was pooja in that school. He had allowed us to pray as per our practice in his office room. Only difference is at that time people were respecting one another's religion. Now religion became a tool to spread disharmony.

    Prayer is good for the soul and is a good way to start morning classes. The headmistress should also encourage other students to pray in their own way, be it Christians, Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs o other denomination in separate rooms before formal classes open for the day. Prayer rooms are provided in Canada at some schools and at airports where anyone can go in and pray. In Dadar (East), Mumbai there used to be at an intersection a three-sided structure where Muslims, Christians and Hindus could spend a little time to pray. That was an ecumenical gesture.
