Weekend curfew withdrawal: Mangaluru, Udupi streets bustle with activity

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 23: The twin cities of the coastal districts were found bustling with activity after the withdrawal of weekend curfew that was imposed two weeks ago.

People were found busy buying groceries as well as having weekend outings and other leisurely activities.

All shops were open in both the cities. Business establishments were thronged by people as for the past two weekends they were closed.

Traditional art activities like Kola, Nema, Jathre and Yakshagana were also held. It was only after 10 PM that the rush reduced following the night curfew.

    Good move, but ban should continue on procession, Jathre,Late night paties,, weddings, political meetings in day time.authourities should allow school,public movement for daily activities and jobs.

    Authorities should strictly ban all kinds of congregations with immediate effect to curb rapid spread of the highly transmissible Omnicorn virus rather than resorting to night and weekend curfew!

    Thats what i am saying that put police in public places to monitor whether people are following covid appropriate behaviour..Police should put FIR and fine for organizing mass gatherings...Also 10 police should be there in marriage functions to check whether they are following covid norms as per guidlines or not....Police should shout in mic 'Omicron is very dangerous' so that people will fear and follow all guidelines in villages...This is only way we can beat the pandemic...Boosters should be given to everyone..

    The results of these mass gatherings at various places will be out in the next 10 days when the highly transmissible virus takes a toll on the young and old! The issue is not of weekend curfew but the mass congregations that continue unabated despite strict ban by government! Heavy price will be paid for this complacency!

    But I think these words should come from our Health cum Astrologer minister Dr Dr Sudhaker and CM Bommai. Then only 100% Corona virus will go. ( Dr Sudhaker already predicted virus will raise in February).

    Let people live freely... these restrictions have no use at all... super rich became ultra rich during lockdown and millions pushed to poevrty becuase of lockdown...please stop this charade... free world seems to be a mirage now..

    Weekend curfew should be continued till end of January..All gatherings should be banned till March...Also put more police in public places and public transport to monitor covid appropriate behavior......Also put 5 police in public place which has closed environment.....Also give booster dose to everyone...Police should put fine for people who violate covid norms...Hotel should be opened only for parcel till January 31......Because in dining, people have to remove mask to eat food.

    See....Omicron is more transmissable than delta...Thats why weekend curfew and restrictions are must to break the chain and to reduce deaths......Full lockdown cannot be implemented as hospitalization is less...If no weekend lockdown, cases may go up to 1 lakhs....

    yesterday there was yakshagana at Ambalpadi junction overnight...no night curfew...only God knows what kind of rules are made by the state govt and district administration...
