Doha, Jan 17: Indian Cultural Centre in association with ISC & ICC Youth Wing celebrated National Youth Day on January 12 in a zoom meeting. All the dignitaries were welcomed by Abdullay Poyil, ICC YW excom member. Dishari Roy made a PowerPoint presentation about participation and activities managed by ICC YW. Sheji Valiyakath, vice president, ISC emphasized the need for sports and requested all parents to encourage children to take part for their best health and improve abilities to be part of any team or individual performance. ICC president delivered the presidential address and thanked Vinod Nair, ICBF VP, for the extended support.
The chief guest of the evening was Dr Sahil Kumar, first secretary (Political & Economic), Embassy of India, who highlighted the need of youth coming forward for taking up various roles and responsibilities in the social, entrepreneur, and cultural fronts.
The most informative and important part of the event was the keynote address by Bineesha Payattati, member of Technology Development Board, Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India, also executive director, IIWM, and PM-STAIC-GOI. Bineesha explained the need for various ways of waste management and works that can be done towards environmental protection. It was an eye-opener for many about the details at which it was explained and encouraged youth to come forward and take ample start-up opportunities available in India and globally in waste management processes. The Q&A session went beyond the scheduled time which symbolized the enthusiasm created amongst the participants.
As an inspiring youth icon, Swami Vivekananda who lived from 1863 to 1902 for about 4 decades, his teaching was remembered by all the speakers.
Chandna, well-known environmental scientist from Germany was a surprise for all the participants. Manjoth Suresh, ICC YW excom presented the vote of thanks.
