Mangalore, Dec 11: The annual day celebration of St Gerosa High School, Jeppu, was held on Thursday December 9.
Fr Joseph Martis, rector, St Joseph’s Seminary, presided over the programme here on Thursday evening.
Fr Martis, in his presidential address, appreciated the service of the teaching staff of the school. He also said that the school not only gave importance to academic performance but also worked for the overall development of the students’ personality.
Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alvas Education Foundation, Moodbidri, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Matha Rani Mathias, principal, Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration, Nirmala David, vice president, Parents Teachers’ Association, Sr Grace Joseph, secretary, Sisters of Charity Educational Society, were the guests of honour.
Dr Alva honoured national-level athletes Sushmitha of Class X and Dhanusha of Class IX during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he praised the service rendered by the Sisters of Charity, especially the school management, towards the upliftment of the students and for instilling good values in them.
Correspondent of the school Sr Marceline Braggs, and school pupil leader Ashika Shetty were also present.
Juliet Rodrigues welcome the gathering. Sr Wilma Pinto, head teacher, St Gerosa High School, presented the annual report of the academic year 2009-10 highlighting the achievements of the school.
Molly D’Souza and Lynette Sumithra compered the programme. Sr Jacinta proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme concluded with variety entertainment depicting the rich cultural heritage of our country.
