Mangalore: DC Orders Closure of Bar, Dry Days, in Subrahmanya

Mangalore, Dec 11: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav, through an order issued on Friday December 10, ordered for the observance of dry days within the jurisdiction of Subrahmanya village from 6 am on Saturday December 10, to midnight on Sunday December 11.

The temple administration had earlier approached the deputy commissioner with a request to order closure of bar in the area, in view of the fact that large crowds would be gathering at the temple town for the Champa Shashti celebrations being held from December 8 to 12.

The deputy commissioner has also ordered the closure of Prashant Bar at Injady, Subrahmanya, during the said period, in exercise of powers vested with him under section 21(1) of Karnataka Excise Act. He has instructed the excise department to seal the front and rear entry points of this bar during the above period.
