Udupi: ‘No Alternative to Ram Mandir in Ayodhya’ - Ashok Singhal

Udupi, Dec 11: Speaking to media persons here, international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Ashok Singhal, challenged the political parties to specifically include their stand on the construction of mosque or temple in Ayodhya, in their individual manifestos. Singhal had arrived in the town on Thursday to take part in the felicitation organized to Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt on his completing 80 years of age.

“There is no question of entering into any out of court settlement in the matter. We demand the construction of a magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.  The political parties are pursuing vote bank politics. UPA is anti Hindu,” he opined.

Singhal said that the disputed site in Ayodhya never belonged to Muslims, and the ancient structure which stood there before the construction of a mosque, belonged to Hindus. He hastened to clarify that Vishwa Hindu Parishad is not against Muslims or mosques.  He blamed political parties of creating hurdles in the way of the Muslims, many of whom are in favour of handing over disputed land in Ayodhya for building Ram temple. He also blamed the political outfits of not trying to convince the Muslim organizations to respect the sentiments of Hindus, and to shun friction with them.

“The excavations by archaeological survey of India and the verdict of the court have confirmed that Ram Lalla continues to be at the birth place of Lord Ram. These findings have also confirmed that a temple, which existed there, had been razed to the ground to pave way for the construction of mosque. The union government should hand over 70 acres of land it has acquired, for the construction of the said temple. At present, dispute centres on only three rooms having an area of 130x90 ft,” he explained.

He warned the political parties, which want construction of a mosque again in Ayodhya, of being reduced into non-entities in the coming days. He also analyzed that the NDA failed to rise to power again because of the fact that it sacrificed its principles and policies of Hindutva and Ayodhya issues in favour of power. He blamed Sonia Gandhi of abetting religious conversions in a bid to destroy Hinduism and culture. He accused the UPA of insulting the Shankaracharya, having wrong stand on Ram Setu project, and of claiming that there was no evidence about the existence of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
