Kasargod, Dec 10: B P Chandrakant Pattattana (52), son of B P Pandurang from Beerantabail, who contributed immensely to Kannada theatre in Kasargod through memorable performances and other activities, breathed his last in a private hospital in Mangalore on Thursday December 9. He was suffering from ill health since some time.

Pattattana is survived by parents, wife, a daughter, a brother, and a large number of relatives and fans.

He developing interest for theatre since his school days, and got an able trainer in the form of K S Sharma. After being at first, identified as a skilled actor through his role in ‘Adalu Badalu’ play,  he created an impact through performances in Tulu plays, ‘Onji Ponn Aji Kann’, ‘Seenkrana Kitapati’ etc. His able portrayal of roles in plays, ‘Oedipus’, ‘Hedigalu’, ‘Mannina Bombe’, ‘Banda Banda Saradara’, ‘Gulamana Nagu’, brought him immense popularity and fan following. He also had directed some plays.

He had also transmitted several Kannada programmes in Kasargod through his ‘Vishwakdarshan Cable TV’ and was credited as being the first to do so here. Later, he worked as the manager of Kanhangad branch of VRL Parcel Service. He was also very active with several pro-Kannada activities.

A programme to pay tributes to the departed soul is being arranged here at 11 am today. Several artistes including Kasargod Chinna and G K Shetty, and various organizations connected with theatre, have mourned the untimely death of Pattattana.
