Mangalore: Karavali Utsav Committee Meets – Decides to Go Ahead

Mangalore, Dec 9: Karavali Utsav Committee met here on Wednesday December 8 to consider the practicability of organizing Karavali Utsav in the city, in the backdrop of the fact that zilla and taluk panchayat elections have since been announced, and that the dates of the elections clash with the Utsav period. Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav, presided over the meeting.

It was noted that the district administration has already made elaborate preparations for holding the Utsav. After the officials and members of Karavali Utsav Committee held prolonged discussions about the possibility of going ahead with organizing of Karavali Utsav, it was decided to hold the Utsav as earlier decided, for 45 days. The cultural programmes, however, are scheduled to begin on January 7.

Additional deputy commissioner, Prabhakar Sharma, assistant commissioner, Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Narendra Nayak of Exert Group and Nisarga Manjunath participated in the meeting.
