Udupi, Dec 8: “It is the duty of those in responsible positions to properly maintain accounts and revenue records of the land on which the concerned structures like mosques and Madrassas stand. They have to hand over these documents to the office bearers in the next term promptly,” advised K Muhammed Salim, vice president of Udupi District Muslim Union.
He was addressing the participants of a workshop organized recently in the premises of Jamia Masjid here for the representatives of the Jamaat and other organizations and institutions, under the aegis of Udupi taluk Unit of the district Jamaat here.
President of district Wakf Board, T S Budan Pasha, called upon all the mosques in the district to get registered with the Wakf Board, and to avail of the facilities that the Wakf Board extends to them. He informed that awareness camps about the benefits of such a move will be held shortly.
Sridhar Bhandary, official of Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation, gave details of facilities extended by the government to minorities, and also the methods of availing of them. He pointed out that the government extends the facility of subsidy for construction houses, acquiring of sites, sinking of tube wells, agricultural activities and education of the children.
The workshop was given an auspicious beginning, with the recital of Quran verses by Muloor A K Sulaiman, senior vice president of the union. Taluk president of the union, Moidinabba, presided. District secretary, Muhammed Sharif Banglegudde, delivered introductory address. Former vice president of the organization, Parkala Haji Abdulla, was present. Taluk unit secretary, Hussain Kodibengre, presented the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
