Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 5: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, January 5, reported 111 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 88 cases.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,731 out of which 441 are currently active.
As many as 11 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,703.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,11,32,030 as fine in 92,058 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,96,671 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 88 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 77,408 out of which 352 are currently active.
A total of 18 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,94,949 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,46,831 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
