Gulf States Want Their Voice Heard: UAE

Abu Dhabi, Dec 6 (IANS) UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said the six nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) want their "voice heard in the global forums".

Sheikh Abdullah Sunday made the remarks at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf states in Abu Dhabi, ahead of an annual summit of the GCC leaders, reports Xinhua.

The ministers were due to submit their recommendations to the leaders of the GCC after reviewing the political, economic, security and social issues on the summit's agenda.

"The meeting and the political debates should reflect our common goal which is to have our voice clearly heard in the international forums," Sheikh Abdullah told the meeting.

Founded in 1981, the GCC groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The six states together hold around 45 percent of the global oil reserves and contribute 16 million barrels crude oil per day.
