Riyadh, Dec 31: Health and safety inspections are increased in the kingdom in order to curb the Omicron variant of Covid virus.
Commercial centres and facilities were inspected by the ministry which found 962 violations out of the 96000 inspections it carried out.
The inspections tours will continue as per the ministry which stresses on the use of mask and maintaining distance of 1.5 meters.
Unvaccinated people are also denied entry in commercial establishments. The establishments are responsible for the customers in scanning the barcode before they enter the building.
The commercial establishments which does not comply with the rules will be fined SR 100000. If violation is repeated the establishment will be closed and it also needs to pay double the amount of penalty.
Wearing of masks and social distancing rules are made mandatory in the kingdom from Thursday. New measures and actions will be decided depending on the number of cases according to the interior ministry.
More than 285 million cases of Covid are reported worldwide after the outbreak and 5.44 million people have died because of the dreaded pandemic.
