The Dakshina Kannada district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind held an awareness meet on the theme ‘eradicate corruption, save the nation’ in front of the DC’s office here on Thursday December 2.

Mohammed Kunhi, convenor of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, DK district unit, the key speaker at the programme said that lack of will power among the general public is the cause for neck-deep corruption.

He expressed his disgust over state and central governments for defaming the name of the nation by involving themselves corruption cases like 2G spectrum, Adarsh scam, CWG scam by central government and land denotification scams by the state government. He said that earlier only Congress was involved in corruption, but BJP is also on the same path now and competing with Congress, he added.

He further opined that there is need for a youth movement to voice against the current state of administration and demand for change in the system as the taxes paid by the public are swallowed by the politicians.

Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji was the chief guest. He said that corruption has shown its severity in most of the fields like politics, religion and so on. He wished that the movement initiated by the youth wing receives good response and has the right impact on the society.
