Mangalore, Dec 2: Bio-Fuels Task Force Karnataka in collaboration with Coastal Development Authority, Mangalore held a seminar on ‘Bio Fuels: Research and Business Opportunities in Coastal Karnataka’ at Karnataka Bank Hall, Kodialbail on Thursday December 2.
Prof Mohan Kumar, Indian Institute of Science inaugurated the seminar.
In his speech he said that people in India have ignored inexhaustible resources. Bio fuels obtained through waste is new way for finding resource. He stressed on the necessity of developing the bio fuel sector in the coastal districts as the land is busy with varied activity where many wastes are not used for further produce. He said that Indians have a mentality that only countries like America and Holland can opt for such resources due to their technological advancement. But even in India it is possible if all the concerned segments coordinate and work toward this aim.
Mangalore south MLA N Yogish Bhat, who was the chief guest of the event, said that there are lots of areas of opportunity to make bio fuel as a major source of energy and scientists can invent modern technology to convert waste into fuel. He also asserted that India will become the richest country if this research turns successful.
Delivering the presidential address B Nagaraj Shetty, the chairman of the Coastal Development Authority, Mangalore, asserted that India will be a self-sufficient nation and need not import resources of other countries after the implementation of bio fuel plans.
Dr K Prabhakar Rao, the secretary of the Coastal Development Authority, Mangalore welcomed the gathering. Basavaraj, the private secretary to the chairman of Bio Fuel Task Force, Bangalore, delivered the vote of thanks.
