Mangalore, Dec 1: ‘HIV/AIDS Awareness Week’ was organized by department of health and family welfare, School of Social Work Roshni Nialaya at the college campus on Wednesday December 1.
Inaugurating the programme, district health officer O R Rangappa said that spreading awareness is the best way to control AIDS and he called upon the students to make the people aware of HIV and AIDS, mainly rural and illiterate people.
In herb presidential address, Dr Jacinta D’Souza, principal of Roshni Nilaya said that AIDS affected children deserve special care from the people and added that awareness campaign and preventive measures should go hand in hand to eliminate AIDS.
An informative book in Kannada titled “Jeevana Jopana” was released by Jacinta on the occasion.
Dr Kishor, DAPCU officer, DK delivered the introductory address. Dr Vineetha K welcomed the gathering. Asha, Monitor ICTC, DK proposed the vote of thanks.
