Mangalore, Nov 30: Addressing a press conference here on Monday November 29, former union minister, B Janardan Poojary, charged the state Chief Minister (CM), B S Yeddyurappa, of creating trauma-like situation for the state Lokayukta. He accused the CM of finding new ways for meting out mental harassment and humiliation to the Lokayukta with each passing day, with the sole aim of keeping his own corrupt administration under wraps.
“At a time when the Lokayukta is seized of the land scam issue, was there a need to hand over the same matter to retired judge, Justice V Padmaraj, particularly when the latter was a party to the scam? How can one expect a fair deal to the issue from him?” he questioned.
He said Yeddyurappa has forgotten, after becoming the CM, that his party had made electoral promise of ceding absolute powers to the Lokayukta. “Not only that, he has now been interfering with the powers enjoyed by the Lokayukta. The entire society should jointly fight the menace of corruption,” he said. He also charged Yeddyurappa of being the most corrupt CM of the state, accusing him of murdering democracy through ‘Operation Kamala’.
“In the past, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) did have core values. BJP did have faith in principles and ideologies. All these have now evaporated into thin air because of lust for money and power. The people have lost faith in RSS because of Yeddyurappa. Even after these developments, why have the RSS leaders been mute spectators to the wrong doings of the CM?” was his question.
Party leaders, Suresh Ballal, Harikrishna Bantwal, Kallige Taranath Shetty and Arun Coelho, were present at the press conference.
