Mangalore, Nov 30: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, compared the opposition parties which he said, are following the guidance of Kumaraswamy, to drama companies. He said that these drama companies will not be able to make people believe that they are right. He predicted a landslide victory for the BJP in the coming taluk and zilla panchayat elections, in spite of the best efforts of the opposition leaders.
He was addressing a conference of Mangalore assembly constituency BJP activists at Tokkottu near here on Monday November 29.
“The opposition parties are frustrated at the pace of development achieved by the Yeddyurappa-led government. As they are fearful that the BJP will continue having sway over the people permanently if it is allowed to complete full five-year term, they are staging a big drama before the people in the hope of unsettling the government. They have tried to turn farmers against the government, convert the state assembly into a battle field, and have assaulted the assembly speaker, thereby murdering democracy,” he said.
Kateel said that the opposition in the state had to bite the dust, even after taking a walkathon to Bellary in protest against mining mafia. He said that these parties have now been raking up the issue of land scam in an attempt muster popular support for them. He called upon the party workers to accept the coming elections as a challenge to give a fitting reply to the ulterior motives of the opposition parties.
Bitterly criticizing the central government, Kateel said that Manmohan Singh has been given only the steering of the government, while the brake is under the control of Sonia Gandhi. He said that Mamata Banerjee is in charge of accelerator, while Sharad Pawar applies gear of the vehicle. “As a result, no one knows who is driving the vehicle,” he added.
Former MLA and Dakshina Kannada distict BJP president, Padmanabha Kottary, presided. Former MLA, Araga Jnanendra, former MLA, Jayaram Shetty, chairman of Karnataka State Fisheries Development Corporation, Nitin Kumar, district BJP general secretary, Devadas Shetty Matandoor and a number of prominent leaders of the party were present.
