Mangalore, Nov 26: The Mahila Sanghatane (women's wing) of the city unit of Karnataka Rajya Devadigara Sangha organised a spiritual Sathyanarayana Pooja followed by a memorable five-hour non-stop cultural programme at Samaj Bhavan hall, Mannagudde here recently.
President of Mahila Sanghatane, Veni Maroly, in her welcome address said that this was the first major programme organized by the Karnataka Rajya Devadigara Sangha, by talented young boys and girls of the community.
"Earlier we had planned a two-and-a-half-hour cultural show by the adult members of the community, however, on receiving the overwhelming response by the children we tried to accommodate all the young talents in the show increasing the programme duration to five hours," Maroly said. She also acknowledged the financial support from the community members in organizing the event.
Secretary Ramachandra Devadiga of Karnataka Rajya Devadigara Sangha congratulated the Mahila Sanghatane for organizing the splendid programme.
Veni Maroly also appreciated the donation of a modern sound system, with new age lighting equipment, and a beautiful stage curtain in memory of her parents, the late Kanvatheertha Vaman Rao and Rathavathi Rao.
Vice-president Vaman Maroly while acknowledging the donation, said that the upgrading of the hall with modern equipment has converted the Samaj Bhavan into a multipurpose hall which can be used to organize any type of cultural show, drama ,Yakshgana etc. The hall has a capacity to accommodate 1200 people, he informed.
The first part of the show was compered by Danya Yekkar, while the latter part was taken care of by Nimika Rathnakar .
The fashion show ‘GEM’ choreographed by Dr Pramila Ullal was the highlight of the programme. Several group dances and songs by young talented boys and girls had the audience spellbound.
