Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 12: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday December 12 reported 15 new infections while Udupi reported the lowest single-day tally in the second wave with just one new case. No death was reported in either of the districts.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 23,27,353 samples have been tested so far, out of which 22,11,291 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,062, out of which 146 are currently active.
A total of 11 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,14,218.
The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,698, out of which five are non-Covid deaths. No death was reported on Sunday.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.22%.
Even though the cases are declining, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,09,24,070 as fine in 90,298 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,14,529 samples have been tested so far.
Only one new case was reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 76,958, out of which 55 are currently active.
Five patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,426.
The one new case reported on Sunday is in Covid designated hospital.
The new case was reported in Udupi city, and the patient is symptomatic.
Coronavirus has claimed 477 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Sunday.
So far, 9,49,732 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 7,73,159 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, and all have recovered.
