Bengaluru, Dec 8: Karnataka is an excellent resource pool of best opportunities of quality higher education not just within the country but even internationally, Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said on Wednesday.
Participating in the inaugural function of the R V University by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at Mysore Road in the city, the minister said top class quality education would provide the best solution for all problems pertaining to the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century.
Highly skilled human resources was of utmost important and most sought after in the employment sector, the minister said pointing out that the new education policy being implemented in the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership was tailored to meet the requirements of the industry.
Dr Narayan said 8,000 smart classrooms had been opened in the State and mentioned that the students were being offered 3.50 lakh seats. The State Government has provided tablets and laptops to the students of government colleges to help in their studies.
Centres of excellence are being established in the key sectors in the State besides giving priority for digital economy mission, he said and contended that Karnataka was next only to Singapore in its emphasis on skill-based training, stress of quality control, excellence and digital economy.
Head of R V Educational Institutions M K Panduranga Setty, R V University Chancellor Y S R Murthy, Pro-Chancellors Nagaraj and Dwarakiprasad and Registrar Krupashankar participated in the function.
