Beltangady, Dec 6: A bike-borne mob of around 60 people, which arrived in 30 motor bikes, assaulted three men with swords and rods and escaped from the spot as people began to gather.
This incident occurred in the night on Sunday December 5 at Andthadka of Ilanthila village in the taluk.
As per the complaint filed by Abdul Zacharia, he was speaking to his friend Siddique near the grocery shop of Iqbal. Suddenly 60 people in 30 bikes (two people on each bike) approached them carrying swords and rods. Accused Sandeep Kuppetti, who is known to complainant Abdul, and his accomplice Jayarama got down from the bike and assaulted Siddique with sword and injured his hands, back and buttocks. In addition, accused Supreet, Preetham and Lathesh hit the hands of Siddique with iron rods.
Accused Jayaram slashed the backside of complainant Abdul’s head with sword, while Sandeep hit him on the hand with rod. Both complainant Abdul and his friend Siddique managed to escape from the assaulters. While they were running, the bike-borne miscreants chased them and attacked Ayub Khan who was walking on the road with a sword.
The attackers escaped when people started gathering on the spot. Later Rahim, who came to know about the incident, arrived with his car and took complainant Abdul and Siddique for treatment to Pragati hospital of Puttur.
