Mumbai, Nov 29: Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai has presented its annual Dr Sunita M Shetty literary award to senior professor and author Dr G D Joshi. The award was presented in the programme held at Mysore association auditorium, Matunga here on Saturday evening, November 27.
Karnataka Sangha Mumbai president Manohar M Kori presided over the programme. Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota president Dharmapal U Devadiga was the guest of honour.
Dr Sunita Shetty said that the city raised her and she did not grow on her own. “I will consider this year’s Karnataka Rajyotsava award as the joy provided by Mumbai Kannadigas,” she said.
The programme began with a song by Susheela S Devadiga. Omdas Kannangar, honorary secretary of the sangha, welcomed, introduced the guests and gave an introduction. Rajiv N Nayaka compered the programme and rendered a vote of thanks.
‘A yakshagana play titled ‘Sri Rama Niryana’ by Vasudev Marnad was performed as part of the programme. Polya Laxminarayana Shetty and Jayaprakash Nidvannaya were the background artists. Prakash Paniyoor, Suresh Shetty Nadrolli, Ashok Pakkala and Geeta R L Bhat were the actors. Ananda Shetty, Praveen Shetty Kateel and Harish Salian were the musicians.
