Mangalore, Nov 16: BASF India has named super cop and Padma Bhushan Julio Ribeiro as its next 'Good Governance' icon.

Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde and Prasad Chandran, chairman, BASF companies in India and head, South Asia officiated at the ceremony in the presence of leading corporate top management, industry representatives, members of academies, educational institutes, politicians, BASF employees and members of the local community.
 
BASF conferred this prestigious title on Padma Bhushan Julio Riberio as part of its 'Good Governance' icon series, an initiative under the 'Million Minds' project.

Chandan in his opening remarks said, “At BASF, we are committed to the principal of sustainable development. An important part of this is integrity and good governance. This inspires us to take a firm stand against corruption, and this is what the 'Million Minds' project focuses on. This felicitation programme aims to sensitize a million Indians, encouraging them to fight corruption and improve governance standards in India.
 
In his acceptance speech, Padma Bhushan Julio Ribeiro said, “The poor and the weaker sections of the society are the ones most impacted by corruption. I appreciate BASF’s initiative to sensitize youth to fight the ills of corruption in India. I am happy to be part of this crusade and hopefully look forward for its realization amongst the youth" he added.
 
Containing corruption and helping the needy are our primary objectives, said Justice N Santhosh Hegde who was also the chief guest for the evening. “In the long run, we aim to influence and motivate young minds to set right the corrupt practices and improve governance standards in all walks of life. Initiatives like BASF’s “Good Governance” Icon Series, introduced by corporate India, will help draw inspiration from these real-life performers in facing difficult odds and fighting against corruption in India, he concluded.

    Super Cop Julio Ribeiro is not a Mangalorean as some of Daijiworld readers understand. He was borne in Porvorim in Goa. Wherever in India he was borne, we Indians are quite proud of him, who did an excellent job in Bombay when he brought underworld activities in his control. His performance in Punjab was superb. He and his family survived when terrorists attempted several times to kill them. I wish him all the best and good health.

    In the year 1983 there was a rift in between railway police and Bombay police. Virtually both the forces fought with guns during Julio Ribeiro's tenure. Nonetheless the Super Cop ordered Military intervention brought within the limited hours from Poona and the situation was controlled instantly.

    This super cop of Mumbai is regarded as a very bold and efficient super cop by all.People of India should support this type of people to reduce corruption in India.That is the only way to uproot the corrupt politicians.
